Enhancing the 6-12 Campus For Every Student

DeKalb Central Schools is enhancing the 6–12 Campus to better serve every student. The district has completed several major projects that support academics, athletics, and student life. These include new DHS signage, updates to the Vocational Agriculture Shop, a renovated weight room, and a new multipurpose complex with accessible seating. Additional improvements include new bleachers, a press box, a sound system, upgraded Wi-Fi and fiber across campus, resurfaced and repainted parking lots, a new band practice field, and a relocated instructional tower. Roofing maintenance and door replacements have also been completed to ensure safety and longevity across campus facilities.

Looking ahead, proposed new work for DeKalb High School includes a multipurpose activity center, a redesigned lobby and Hall of Fame corridor, and renovations to theatrical and vocal spaces. Plans also feature new band practice and support areas, a renovated vocal and theatrical room, updated student lounges and corridors, new band instrument lockers, and a new band addition. Multipurpose flooring and flexible spaces designed to support student engagement will help create an even more dynamic learning environment.

At DeKalb Middle School, several exciting projects have already been completed. These include corridor updates, new signage, expanded classroom lab space, and improvements to the commons area and music education spaces. Roofing maintenance, door replacements, a new 6–12 tennis complex, and upgrades to the softball area—including new dugouts, a press box, concourse, and fencing—have also been finished.

Future projects for the 6–12 Campus include additional parking and pavilion areas, accessible parking and restrooms, new drinking fountains, and a covered pavilion space. Upgrades to the pole vault, shot put, and discus areas are also planned to enhance athletic facilities.

DeKalb High School

DeKalb High School is undergoing several exciting facility upgrades to enhance athletics, safety, and the overall student experience. Improvements to the football area include new bleachers, an updated concessions stand, a modern ticket booth, and enhancements to the band practice lot. The softball complex is also receiving attention, with refreshed dugouts and the addition of a new press box. To further prioritize safety, a new voice fire alarm system is being installed to ensure the highest level of protection for students, staff, and visitors.

DeKalb Middle School

DeKalb Middle School is receiving several exciting facility upgrades designed to enhance both comfort and appearance. These improvements include brand-new furniture to create more inviting and functional learning spaces, as well as updated black roof panels to improve durability and give the building a refreshed look.

Waterloo Elementary

Waterloo Elementary has seen numerous exciting facility upgrades that enhance both learning and play. Improvements include updated HVAC equipment for better comfort, refreshed classrooms with new paint, flooring, bookshelves, and sinks, plus a brand-new playground and sidewalk installed last fall.

Country Meadow Elementary

Country Meadow Elementary has received a variety of exciting facility upgrades to improve comfort, communication, and play. Updates include new HVAC equipment for better climate control, digital signage for clear and timely information, and freshly paved blacktop and sidewalks for the playground. In addition, a brand-new playground was installed last fall, providing students with a safe and fun space to enjoy.

James R. Watson Elementary

James R. Watson Elementary is receiving several exciting facility upgrades aimed at improving both the school’s appearance and functionality. Enhancements include the installation of new, clearly visible signage at Door 1, making it easier for visitors, families, and community members to navigate the campus. Additionally, a new fence is being added around the trash cans and chillers, helping to create a cleaner, more organized, and visually appealing environment for students, staff, and guests. These updates reflect the school’s commitment to maintaining a welcoming and well-maintained learning space.

Central Office

The Central Office has undergone several noteworthy facility upgrades aimed at improving both function and appearance. Enhancements include updated boardroom signage that creates a more professional and welcoming space for meetings, as well as the removal of the tech trailer, opening up the area and giving the campus a cleaner, more organized look.
